The examples that come to mind are Karvo, Rune stuff and geneticist items like Detonator and Gun Powder. Some of these items have really low drop rates or even a low number of mob spawns. So they spend time farming them or buy them from bots that farm them faster anyway. There's plenty of classes that need specific items to make use of some skills.
